Celebration

We decided a few months ago that we would re-do Abbie's bedroom for her birthday. When we moved in, there wasn't much to it, and what better time to get a big girl bedroom than on your 7th birthday? She is really leaving that little girl stage and heading into big kid territory. Not so sure how I feel about this, pretty sure she will be getting her drivers license next week.

Anyhow, here is the terribly drab (and messy and partially disassembled) before picture.

Who can keep a boring room clean anyway? Not these girls.

Anyhow, Michael and I put the kids to bed, and put Abbie to bed in our room while we got to work painting, assembling, decorating (ok, that was mostly me) and getting the room put together.

We have a very professional style of painting.

Obviously.

Anyhow, when it was all said and done (around 3am!!) it looked pretty good!

Then Dad went and picked his girl up and carried her to bed, at nearly the exact same time (3:35 a.m.) that she came into our lives 7 years ago. It was so sweet.

Pretty much a recreation of this picture

Except, you know, she is about 10 times that size now.

When she woke up in her new bedroom the next morning, she was thrilled. I somehow didn't get any pictures of this. Must have been a mixture of baby brain, sleep deprivation, and a wave of emotion from my baby girl being 7!

Anyhow, we went for a donut date before school

Then later that day we went to her school for lunch, and met her with her favorite food, subway :)
(turkey, cheese, and black olives on whole wheat bread. A little strange, but she knows what she likes!)

After school, we went to the park, played with friends, ate some pizza and breadsticks, and ate some birthday cake

{The cake I made was top layer funfetti (which is what I usually make for birthday's around here) and bottom layer brownie, with eggless cookie dough in the middle. It was so good, but let me tell you, it was richer than I could handle! It ended up working out VERY nicely, but it somehow ruined the baby on most sweets and junk, and now the mere thought of  anything that's not mostly healthy makes me nauseous! It may sound like a bad thing, but I'm pumped, because the less I gain with the baby the less I have to lose when he/she arrives. Plus, I don't think cakes and cookies are going to help much in the fetal development department.}

Then came the birthday party, which was about 10 times the amount of work that I had anticipated. All worth it though, they had a blast!

Abbie's friend Makenna came over early, which worked out pretty well, it kept her entertained while I got everything hung up and situated.

Cute girls :)

When the rest arrived, it didn't take long for the party to start

They ran, played, sang, danced, decorated cupcakes, made their own pizzas, had their make-up done, opened presents, and just did what little girls do.

My AMAZING friend Becky came to help out, and let me tell you, if she wasn't here I might not have made it out alive! She was my extra set of hands and helped me keep my sanity. Thanks again Becky :)

Around 11pm I was really questioning my judgement. This preggo was tired and these little girls didn't want to sleep. They finally fell asleep, only to wake up at 6am! Yikes! But Dad came to the rescue with donuts to feed the masses before he headed off to work.

This is what we woke up to.

I guess a messy house is a sign of a good party?

We did fingernails, crafts, played outside, played inside, ran around, disturbed the neighbors, got them all sent home by 10am and even made it to the 10:45 service at church on time! This might be one of the biggest accomplishments of my life.

Not sure if we will invite the entire class again next year, I think we might do something a little smaller with a handful of her besties, but it sure was a fun experience she won't forget.
So happy that she had a good time, love you Princess!
