Back to school

First day of 1st grade!

 Looking a little nervous...

Still nervous...

A little scared...

But we got over all that.

She loved her first day of her new school, and could not WAIT for Daddy to get home from work so she could re-tell everything that she told me when I picked her up. She made lots of friends, learned lots of rules (which she loves, strange as that may seem) and loved her new teacher!

After school we headed out for some ice cream, where she continued to pout out  the details of the day

I pray that she will always be anxious to fill me in on the details of her life, even if I have to get her a bowl of ice cream to do so :)

Here she is before day two...equally, if not more excited than yesterday!

We are loving the school year so far. I love being on a routine, getting up early, getting Jax down for a nap on time, and loads and loads of play dates/story times with my boy while my big girl is playing at school.

Here's to a great year!

Day 6, 7, and then I lose count

Let's wrap things up, shall we?

Day 6- Big Girl alarm clock day

this probably seems totally trivial to anyone else, but let me tell you, she was pumped about this alarm clock! She has been asking for one for as long as I can remember, and I figured she is old enough now to wake up on her own in the mornings w/out Mom going in and doing it. Plus it lights up, which = awesome in the land of 6 year old's.

Day 7- Ice Skating Day

This was probably the highlight of our whole 12 days. She starts lessons this week, so she has been just dying to get out there on the ice and give it a try!

And of course we figured we would just make a family day out of it!

Day 8 - Play Date

She got to go on a special playdate, and they played for hours dressing up, globing on make-up and fingernail polish, and dancing around. We all had a great time!

Day 9 - Back to school haircut

This was the first time that she went to a real salon, and honestly she wasn't that impressed. I was disappointed that they didn't style it for her, but the cut itself is very very cute!

And of course little brother needed one too

Day 10 - Last day of swimming lessons

Day 11 - New shoes day

G-Mom buys all the grandkids new shoes every school year, and these are the one's miss priss picked out this year!

Super cute little Jessica Simpson's, love it!

and Jaxon picked out these cute little Sperry's

Thanks G-Mom!! :)

We were supposed to have one last pizza/movie party on day 12 (yesterday) before school started, but unfortunately someone got in trouble and lost that privilege, along with a few others (including the fantastic light-up alarm clock!) So sorry, no pictures for the last day!

But the good news is that it all led up to this...

My big girl's first day of 1st grade!

I am so proud of my sweet girl, and the little lady she's becoming! I love you Abigail Faith!

Day 4 & 5

Day 4: Candy shop

Nana was here for day 4 and 5, and day 4 was originally supposed to be Sea Life day, but when we got to Grapevine, we saw that the wait was nearly an hour!
I frantically searched for the nearest activity that divert a meltdown (from Jax not being able to "see big fish kitty"...not sure what that means) and that thing was the candy store!

They had comically large tootsie pops like the one Abbie has above, and giant Nerds boxes bigger than a cereal box!

The kids were amazed, and I was pretty entertained myself.

And what good is a trip to the candy store if you don't make it out with an animal balloon? Or in our case, a sword and princess wand.

Day 5 was : Fishing day w/ Nana

It was so hot by the time we got out there, we didn't catch anything, but they still had a good time. I'm pretty sure the best part was the awesome barbie/spider man fishing poles, and Abbie spending 30 minutes the night before picking out her "fisherman's outfit." There was originally supposed to be a denim vest, fishing hat, and two scarves, but she decided to tone it down a little at the last minute.

We had a great couple days with our Nana, and now we're ready to have today and tomorrow with Daddy, Monday/Tuesday is his weekend :)

Day 3

Day 3: Library Day

Yesterday, for day 3, we made the trip to the big library about 20 minutes away. The entire 2nd story was just for kids, complete with a story time room, and lots of little nooks and tiny couches for reading a great book.

I loved that they were reading, and they loved the just-their-size-chairs.

The library was great, but they had even more fun exploring outside on all the statures and fountains.

I would just like to say that I didn't ask them to take any pictures, they came up with this all on  their own. Abigail said the exact words "Mom! C'mon, lets go over there so you can take my picture!" Well of course I didn't, but luckily I always have my phone.

I am telling you, they had so much fun with their little mini-photo shoot. It really turned out to be the main event of the day!

Today we have plans to go to the back to school swim party, but I'm not sure how well those plans will pan out seeing that is raining! Praise Jesus!! I could not care less that it is interfering with our plans, we will just take it however we can get it!
