apparently, posting one hundred random things about yourself is the cool thing to do right now. i love the thought of writing a mass amount of things with no structure or plan. with that said, i don't think i can pull off one hundred of them, so will you settle for fifty? okay great...here we go!
1. even though it is mid-november, my christmas tree is up, and it is on right now, and it makes me very happy.
2. we also put the lights on the house this weekend, and this is the first time in my entire life that i've had christmas lights on my house! i'm elated!
3. i really want a minivan, or a swagger wagon if you will. watch that video and tell me you don't want one. this will (hopefully) be our next vehicle purchase
4. i would love to have a big family. not big enough to land me my a show on tlc,...but a family of five or six would be nice.
5. i talk to both my mom and grandma on a daily basis. and i love them both dearly.
6. i have the most amazing husband and fantastic kids in the world. i'm sure you already knew that, but it doesn't hurt to state the obvious.
7. i jump on our trampoline all the time. often times, without our kids. don't judge.
8. i am now doubting my ability to come up with even fifty random thoughts worth writing about.
9. my wardrobe consists of probably 70% grey/black. i love pretty colors but i prefer to wear muted ones. in fact i'm wearing my new grey sweater that i bought this morning, and loving it!
10. i get super claustrophobic if my jeans are tight on my legs, and i feel like i can't breath. same thing if my shoes are crowding my toes. okay, maybe i should have kept this one to myself, because you're probably wondering what's wrong with me and deciding to stop reading. sorry.
11. i get just as excited when my children get gifts, as i do if i get gifts for myself. we just had a double birthday party, so you can imagine my excitement!
12. i am the complete opposite of a pack rat. seriously. i go through our closets at least once a month to weed them out and get rid of what we don't wear/use/fit into. less is more.
13. i recently found out that target opens at 8am. i usually drop misspriss off at school a few minutes before 8, so this works out perfectly. especially on the days that michael goes to work late so he can stay with the boy while mommy shops :) they are both usually sleeping till 9 anyways, so they don't know the difference. i've had at least 5 trips there in the past week. please don't tell michael...thanks.
14. i really enjoy the act of shopping. even buying food or cleaning supplies makes me very happy :)
15. we recently started going to story time at the downtown library, and i am pleasantly surprised by jax's participation every week. i just assumed he would run around like a wild man the entire time. such a big boy.
16. i c a n n o t believe that brandy was kicked off of dancing with the starts last night, and bristol palin stayed! that is madness! now, i like bristol as much as the next girl, but brandy was destined for the finals. i should have voted....dangit.
17. a dear friend of mine (monica) is in ethiopia - as i type - helping share the love of christ to children in the orphanages there. it is so amazing and brave to take on that kind of calling from the lord, to travel so far and leave your family to help those less fortunate. she is just fearless like that. i can't wait to hear all about her trip when she comes back next week!
18. the mother of a a little boy at the birthday party, told me that he wants to marry abbie. this obviously can't happen, because she tells me (almost daily) that she is going to live with mommy and daddy forever. i am holding onto this promise for as long as i can.
19. abbie is such a good little gymnast :) i love to watch her classes, and her frequent cartwheels around the living room. so proud of my sweet girl.
20. we tried putting jax in gymnastics this summer, and he enjoyed running around at full speed the entire time while his class learned. it was a workout for us both.
21. i am very thankful for thanksgiving, and all of our blessings. but wouldn't it be nice if we could just fast forward to christmas? all the same yummy food (plus ham/ minus turkey) but with added music and lights and gifts.
22. abigail's sunday school teacher threw a "birthday party for jesus" during christmas time last year, which was such a great idea.
23. i could really go for one of these right now
(decaf please)
25. we had plans to go see the nutcracker at our downtown theatre this friday, but have decided to take the kids to prime time instead. i just can't pass up riding go carts in 70 degree weather in november. plus the 70 degree weather would ruin the nutcracker for me anyways...it wouldn't seem right to watch it unless the weather was seasonally appropriate.
26. christmas. please lord, let it be at least cloudy and chilly this year.
27. did you know that the conan blimp was in our city? i was so shocked to see it from my in-laws backyard a few weeks ago. did anyone else see it?
28. cupcakes are not my favorite. in fact, i could probably go the rest of my life without eating another cupcake, and be just fine. now cookies...those are a different story. oh, and brownies. don't forget the brownies.
29. i love swagbucks! every 450 swagbucks, i "snag" an amazon gift card, and order books and cd's and whatever else strikes my fancy. i'm currently waiting on my monk and neagle cd to arrive, hurry please!
30. can't i please be good at refinishing furniture? it is just not my calling. i'm hoping to replace my kitchen table in the near future, because the crackle finish i attempted didn't work out so well. booo.
31. i want to make this.
and fill it with things we are thankful for. hopefully i can make it to hobby lobby soon!
32. we are projected to be debt free (from credit cards and car payments) by march! praise jesus! i need to be strong and not let target and tcp ruin this for me!
33. i can sew, but i really really really don't like it. sure, i love the outcome, but at this point in my life the stress/frustration outweighs the excitement at the end. i made abbie cakes's nap mat for school back in august, and haven't touched it since.
34. i've also stopped making hair bows since we closed down our booth back in august. abigail has dozens and dozens of bows on five different bow hangers. plus she is starting to grow out of the bow phase and onto the big girl phase siiiigh.
35. i absolutely l o v e peanut butter m&m's. they are amazing. michael knows this is one of the sure fire ways to my heart. a sixty-five cent bag of these goes a long way.
36. my husband doesn't like chocolate :( or cheesecake. luckily he likes brownies (i know...they are chocolate...don't ask me) otherwise we would have no junk food nights.
37. i played basketball in the third grade for the ymca. the only time i made a basket the entire season was at the wrong end of the court. also, i stopped an entire game because i broke a nail. this too, is probably something i should have kept to myself. hmmm...michael is sure a good man for putting up with me.
38. we put abigail in soccer when she was three. she refused to play. no really. she sat down in the middle of the field, crossed her arms and said "i want to play cheerleading!" her husband will be one lucky man someday.
39. i didn't believe in santa when i was growing up. my mom didn't want me to think that she had lied to me. i get that, but we decided to do a little bit of santa with our kids. we certainly don't focus on it, since it's jesus's birthday and not just about gifts. but santa does bring them a big present for christmas and we leave him some cookies. not chocolate cookies obviously, daddy santa doesn't like chocolate.
40. i love that we live in our hometown right now. i know it's not permanent, but i'm happy to be here close to family and friends for the time being. it feels very safe.
41. i don't eat fish, eggs, mayonnaise, or black olives. however i will eat some shell fish, i drink eggnog at christmas time, i eat chicken salad made w/mayonnaise, and i like green olives. bizarre.
42. we are taking a three week break from our journey group at church during the holiday. i am going to miss it so much during these weeks! nothing like getting together with girls for a time of fun, bible study, and prayer.
43. before we take our three week break, we are having a "super secret santa sequin" party at my house. i can't wait!
44. i am pretty sure that jaxon will be taking his fluffy and blanky to college with him. he loves them so much, and gets genuinely sad when he realizes they aren't around. luckily he doesn't feel this way about his paccie anymore!
45. i have a brother that is fifteen years older than me, and he is coming home in less than a month! i haven't seen him in over two years and he has never met his sweet nephew jaxon. i am more than excited!
46. my sweet little baby boy will be two years old in two weeks. can somebody please explain to me how this happened so fast? i need dvr for life, so i can rewind, pause, and slow down time. he hasn't been an "easy baby" like his big sister, but i would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
47. we recently bought a sectional, and it is probably the best purchase that we've ever made! it's amazing. thank you lord for microfiber.
48. we have the best grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins that we could ever ask for our children. we are truly blessed to have people in their lives that love them nearly as much as we do. couldn't ask for more.
49. it makes me sad when we go through the baby girl section at target and i realize that abbie cakes can't wear these things anymore :( she can still fit some things 5t, but they just don't look the same in that giant size.
50. i am so thankful and blessed that i am able to stay at home with my kids. this is the best gift my husband could have ever given me, and he feels just as strongly about it as i do. thanks babe :)
